About Us
Tutor For America Now is a nonprofit organization based in Montgomery County, Maryland, dedicated to supporting the whole child through dynamic and engaging before- and after-care programs. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to grow emotionally, socially, and academically—and that takes a village.

That’s why we welcome volunteers of all ages and backgrounds, especially middle and high school students, school counselors, and caring community members, to make a lasting impact in a child's day.

At Tutor For America Now, we live by the belief that “Children Learn Through Play.” Through fun, hands-on activities and meaningful relationships, we focus on building students’ confidence, creativity, and self-esteem—skills they carry for life.
Our volunteers support us with homework, but their impact reaches far beyond academics. They lead engaging activities in art, music, crafts, sports, reading, math, science, and technology, and are encouraged to design and lead clubs in areas such as:
-
Lego Club
-
Writing Club
-
Knitting and Sewing
-
Cooking and Baking
-
Basketball and Tennis
-
Engineering and STEAM
-
Manners and Social Etiquette
-
Politics and Debate

Play-Based Learning and Games
Whether you're passionate about music, skilled in technology, love storytelling, or simply enjoy playing and mentoring, there is a place for you here to lead, inspire, and grow alongside our students.

Our approach is rooted in Social Emotional Learning (SEL) and inspired by the ideas of Carol Dweck (Growth Mindset) and Howard Gardner (Multiple Intelligences Theory). We ask not just “Why are you smart?” but “How are you smart?”—because every child learns differently, and each one deserves to shine in their own way.

By aligning volunteers with each student’s interests and learning style, we foster a nurturing, personalized environment where every child feels seen, supported, and empowered.

We are already making a difference—and we need your help to keep going. Join us in shaping a more compassionate, creative, and connected community—one child, one volunteer, and one joyful afternoon at a time.
